  • Am I mean?

Is it mean to ask some gay men this question, "what does top mean?".

  • #2
I don't know if that would be mean, but better yet, you should start your question with "I hope I won't offend you but I would like to ask a question?"

Is that something about a sexual position? If yes, I don't think that would be offensive. I really don't know that much when it comes to gay languages/terms.

I don't usually use gay languages, I prefer talking formally

If they say they are top It means that they are the one banging someone's ass.

If you're just being sarcastic with it, then they might think that it is a bit mean. And besides, why not just go search for that answer online rather than ask a gay person what it means

That's the problem with sarcasm, not everyone can detect it immediately. So there's a chance that they would take it as a serious question

It's better to ask someone who has actually experienced it. You know what I mean?

  • #5
Why not just do your own research about that online if you think that the person that you would be asking is going to get offended by it

So have you already done your research?

I don't think that it is a mean question. I bet some of them would gladly explain it to you

AbsTrack what was their reaction when you asked that question?

It was a very normal reaction, it's not a big deal to fuss about.

Alrighty, thanks for that. I now have the confidence to ask that question.

It all depends on how you're going to ask him. If you say it in a blunt way, they might give you a sarcastic answer because of it

I think there's nothing wrong with asking such question as long as you are asking it in a proper manner.

I agree all she has to do was to ask nicely.

Also, I think that she doesn't really have an idea what it means

Can you tell us exactly why you think that asking that question might sound mean?

Why not ask it directly to the next gay person that you see so that you would know if it is considered as a mean question
