  • Am I mean?

Is it mean to ask some gay men this question, "what does top mean?".

  • #2
I don't know if that would be mean, but better yet, you should start your question with "I hope I won't offend you but I would like to ask a question?"

That could work because it might sound mean if I ask the question directly.

They might understand it in a different way if you don't want to sound mean.

RopeShow Also make your tone sounds nice, not rude and avoids being prejudice.

Is that something about a sexual position? If yes, I don't think that would be offensive. I really don't know that much when it comes to gay languages/terms.

Why are you not familiar with those terms? Is it because you're straight one

Yes, it's a sexual position, no you know. Thanks for your advice anyway.

I don't usually use gay languages, I prefer talking formally

If you're just being sarcastic with it, then they might think that it is a bit mean. And besides, why not just go search for that answer online rather than ask a gay person what it means

That's the problem with sarcasm, not everyone can detect it immediately. So there's a chance that they would take it as a serious question

It's better to ask someone who has actually experienced it. You know what I mean?

  • #5
Why not just do your own research about that online if you think that the person that you would be asking is going to get offended by it

I don't think that it is a mean question. I bet some of them would gladly explain it to you

AbsTrack what was their reaction when you asked that question?

It was a very normal reaction, it's not a big deal to fuss about.

It all depends on how you're going to ask him. If you say it in a blunt way, they might give you a sarcastic answer because of it

I think there's nothing wrong with asking such question as long as you are asking it in a proper manner.

I agree all she has to do was to ask nicely.
